Royal City Avenue (RCA) is the premier party district of Bangkok. From entertainment activities like Go-kart, bowling to hedonistic escapes like live music and discotheque, possibilities are endless here. One of the most sought after nightclubs, Route 66 is a legendary destination for partygoers. With a youth-centric crowd, this is a must-see place for every tourist who wants to befriend or charm a local. Considered as a rite-of-passage for teenagers all around, this place remains to be a favorite given the number of innovative facelifts it has gone through.

Started way back in 1996, there are 4 distinct zones or rooms in this club. On weekdays, which are not slow here, DJs play RnB, Hip-Hop and Dance hits on the right side whereas the left side is for the known bands playing everything from Thai hits to 70s western soul. On weekends two additional rooms are opened – a Thai pop centered and another for the EDM and Trance loving crowds. For beginners it is better to pick weekdays for a more cozy experience.

Though the LEDs and laser lights adorn the main area, the lack of a proper dance floor may be bewildering but so are all the other clubs here. Similar to the inside, there is an al fresco slot outside which is perfect for a mid-party breather. Open from 080:00 PM till late, their current lineup consists of DJs – Budhha, Por P One, Ono, Meeh, Krit and Benz. The best ways to visit is reserve early and take a group of friends. Since entry is free for the Thai crowd, finding locals to converse with will be easy if you are alone.

This should be one of the first places to check-out if you want to indulge in the authentic Thai crowd. The redeemable Entry Fee (almost) is an added incentive. Route 66 has been entertaining people with diverse taste in music. The ambience and sheer energy in this place would put you into a euphoric state. Surely, a must visit for everybody. A passport OR I.D. is a must and should not be forgotten.
